Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca
Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca is a Catalan artist internationally renown for his mechatronic performances and interactive installations. He is co-founder of La Fura dels Baus, (1979-1989) group with which he developed the macro-performances ACCIONS (1984), SUZ / O / SUZ (1985) and TIER MON (1988). In the last five years, Antúnez has created participatory and collaborative works, such as: ALSAXY, Strasbourg, France (2015) and TRACAPELLO Valencia, Spain (2017).
Marcel·lí has received, among others, the following distinctions and awards: First Prize at the Étrange Festival, Paris (1994); Best New Media at the Noveaux Cine / Noveaux Médias Montreal (1999); Max Award for New Scenic Languages, Spain (2001); Prix Ars Electronica Honorary Mention(2003), the Premio Ciudad de Barcelona in the Multimedia category (2003), Premio Ciudad de Barcelona in Visual Arts (2014) and the Excellence Art Award, Japan Media Arts Festival (2015).
His works have been presented at numerous festivals, galleries, museums and theatres in more than forty countries around the world, including the Villette de Paris, the I.C.A. in London, the FILE in Sao Paulo, the Tokyo Cultural Center, the DOM Cultural Center in Moscow, the DEAF in Rotterdam, the Ars Electronica in Linz or the Performing Arts in Seoul.
