Migrant Crops: A Workshop by Epicuro Lab and the MhIC for Manifesta 15

Date: Tuesday, October 15, 2023
Venue: Museu d'Història de la Immigració de Catalunya (MHIC), Sant Adrià del Besós

Time: 17:00 - 19:00
Free event with registration.

As part of the Imagining Futures cluster of activities for Manifesta 15, Epicuro Lab and the MHIC invite you to participate in a workshop that will delve into the intrinsic relationship between plants and contemporary social challenges.

This event is part of the project Working Plants from Afar, which aims to deepen understanding of biodiversity in the urban environment and address contemporary social issues through an installation based on rapeseed, alongside various participatory activities.

Epicuro Lab will explore the concept of biocenosis (a community of living organisms) through the cultivation of rapeseed, regarded as the best example of what could be called a global proletarian biocenosis: a community of plants that work for their "masters" without rights or recognition, a crop created and modified to serve our interests without any other consideration.

During the workshop, participants will engage in a series of collaborative activities in the museum's gardens and orchards, designed to encourage reflection and dialogue.

The event is free and open to the public. However, due to space limitations, only 15 people can be accommodated.

Pre-registration is required via email at info@quoartis.org with the subject: "Taller Plantes Obreres."
